I now have 7 guitars laying around the house that are anywhere from 5 months to 5 years old. Time to go over them and correct any problems that have shown up.
First up was #1 from 2012, a maple/sitka L bodied late 20's Gibson inspired 14 fret with a bolt-on neck. I had read that it was possible to set one of these necks by taking out the bolts, then gently flexing the glued down finger board extension to work your flossing sandpaper into the wedge shaped crack. Worked well. You have to be a little creative when you pull the paper because it is grabbed tightly at the point of the wedge and less as you pull it out, so you have to flex the neck back into place as you pull the paper.
In addition to the neck, there were 2 frets that were a touch high - but only over a small part of the fret. Easy to fix. And I also slotted the bridge, used Howard's on the fretboard, cleaned it up and lightly polished it.
All in all, a success
