Have any of you been able to get a perfect plate joining seem using a router table or jointer?

John Hall uses a joiner and gets a great result every time.

Santa Cruz Guitars uses a jointer. I asked Richard Hoover about this when I toured their facility last year.

Thank you guys!

My thought is, if I could build a router table box that runs tight in the miter slot and have the two plates toggled down to it, I should theoretically be able to get a perfect joint. Unless my theory is flawed, which it may be. Any thoughts on that? Anyone?

Theoretically, of course this could work. I might try it to see, but my bet is that you will need just a little tweaking.

This point is moot. I just bought a Veritas Low Angle Jack Plane with the PM-V11 blade. NTD coming soon!

I think you will still need a little tweak. Let us know and show us your set-up

I'm sorry to say that I had to cancel the Veritas LAJ. I did pick up a Stanley No.6 for cheap. It should be sufficient to run the shooting board, we'll see.

I got the post war Stanley No.6 for $45, it's in really good shape. The blade needed some work so I sharpened it by hand, thanks to Paul Sellers, got it set right in the plane and it is shaving translucent shavings. I'm building my shooting board for it tomorrow and then it's joining the tops and backs.
