I use Old Brown. (and Franklin Liquid HG, too) I keep the old brown in the refrigerator and scoop out a bit when needed and heat it in a water bath about 140F. No issues with the OBG. The Franklin LHG is at least ten years past its shelf life, but still works good, though I wouldn't trust it on any high stress joint. I used it this year on an antique violin repair.
