Got nick?

Post by deadedith »

Well I have a nick on my spruce top that I want to fill using the finish + sawdust thing, BUT as I was a' sanding along I must have picked up some dust from the black fiber binding or the rosette material, because that nick has something in it that the dust will not hide.
I suppose one way to address this is to enlarge the nick a bit to get to raw wood, and go from there.
Any other idears?
Thanks

I get the picture, but still have the problem of the discoloration in the nick. If it was just a clean nick I would use your method and bob's your uncle. It's the black fiber dust that is embedded in there that is foiling my attempts. It is a very small nick but oh so noticeable.
I'm going at it with a very small-pointed tool (my wife just laughed) to get everything spruce-looking, then will go ahead with Ken Cierp's method that has worked for me in the past.
Thanks

A little late for this, but if your nick is more of a ding rather than cut fibers, steaming works miracles.

Beyond steaming, alas.
