Lots of progress on my D28, No major screw ups

John, it's looking good. Did you do the inlays on the fretboard?

I did do the inlays, a few of weeks ago. Thank goodness for ebony!, although I did get some good routes as I got the hang of it.

Yeh, I did rectangles, about 1" by 1/8" or something like that, and it took me a bit. Even after practicing on scrap.
But it was fun and ebony is a great forgiver.

The biggest skill I learned was to stop when I could not see the line, because of light or the bit in the way or what ever. At first I somehow thought I knew where the line was. When I learned to stop, turn the neck around to a new position and restart it was easy to keep in the line.

Wow, that was with the neck glued to the fretboard!! I did mine with the neck screwed to the piece of particle board that Ken sent with it, and before the f/b was dimensioned. That made it pretty stable - a wider surface.
Yours looks really cool. Might try that for my son's when I do it. But that's a rosewood f/b. Won't be much hiding there, huh!

I took a one day inlay class with Rick Davis from Running Dog Guitar at his Sound Guitar Workshop and came up with an inlay for the top of My D28 pegboard. The inlay was inspired, well copied :), from a photo in our news paper from the last full moon.

The class was great fun and I came away with an inlay that I am happy to use.

I have the neck set, The bindings are reinstalled level, I have filled in the odd gap or so in the binding and purfling joints. I am getting close to being able to start to finsh the guitar.
