I've been working on a dreadnought with sinker mahogany (RC Tonewoods) and cooked red spruce. It's now at the finishing stage. The sinker had a distinct fish smell--I was waiting for John's cat to knock the door down when we thicknessed this set last winter. Antique piano wood was used for the x braces and ebony for bindings and carpathian elm for the rosette and head face. Next up is the french polish/rattle can lacquer decision and a few months to get a tiny film over the wood. ;-)

It probably is. I think the veneer could have been mislabeled as carpathian--no expertise here. I've had it since the late '70s and finally found a use.
