Number Nine is underway

Post by John J »

While the finish cures on my 00 cutaway, I've started on number nine. I've found that I really enjoy playing my Cherry Norman Blake style OM so I've decide to do this guitar along the same lines. It will be a 00 size 12 fret a la Norman Blake. I'll use the 14 fret body shape and move the sound hole and bracing down accordingly. It will be Narra and Engleman Spruce.

I have not used Narra, looks like a very pretty wood. Some of the colors remind me of paduak.

Rosette. This one is Amboyna burl and BRW with maple strips. I found out after I did this one that the Amboyna burl grows on the Narra tree.

Coming along. Top bracing a bit thinner versus rounded over on the top edges.

Sound port. I did this style on my cherry OM and I thought it projected the sound nicely without having a single large hole.

Looking great sir! I like the clovers. That wood should look beautiful under finish.

Is the Leprechaun helping you with this build?

Moving along. Box awaits final sanding while I finish the neck. Cut my inlays and hope to get them in this weekend.
