Cleaning up and squaring up the sides prior to binding. The method that so far has worked best for me is thick dowel covered with various grits. Stand at the end and two handed sanding towards and away. Worked well.

Wow! It's coming along nice and quick. I'm jealous - though I admit I'm also a slob who procrastinates at the drop of a hat. I can wait to see the next set of pictures.

BTW, did you figure out how to sand down that rosette? I have something similar from Stew Mac and am planning on using a cabinet scraper. It takes a little practice to get it adequately sharp but if you like working cleanly - read: little curly shavings instead of mounds of sawdust - you might like trying one.
