It starts with clothes pins, next thing you know you have the clothes iron, hair dryer, curling iron and dish soap in the shop. All stuff my wife has lost to the shop at some point in time. I'm sure I'm forgetting some.

I wanted to borrow my wife's new lemon zester......yep, it is made by Microplane.
I bought my own instead, one made for the shop, haven't tried it yet.

Musicman, looks like you're off to a good start. Some guys reshape one inner leg of the clothespin to better mate with the
profile of the kerfed lining.

Kevin, you're gonna like the Microplane. I've been using them with no disappointment since they hit the market.
My only nit to pick is that I'd like them to stay sharp for a longer period of time. The refills are almost as expensive
as the planer/handle kit. All in all, though, Microplanes and refills come in less expensive than a top notch rasp.

A rasp, or any file, can be sharpened in muriatic acid. Depending on strength, it may take a couple hours to make them better than new check progress often. Any other acid will work as well - a friend uses citric acid and in the concentration he has, it takes over 24 hours, so less chance of a catastrophe.

If you don't want to get your hands dirty, these people will sharpen files and rasps in acid for about $2-3 each plus shipping. I have sent 10 files in a Priority flat rate envelope:
