Re: 1st scratch build (Walnut OM)
I'll let someone else take a stab at the pin location, but I'm pretty comfortable saying that using blots through the pin holes will not be adequate.
You need to spread out the clamping pressure, especially out on the wings.
The bolts through the pin holes are a great way to locate the bridge, but you will need to come up with some way to clamp down the wings, and spread some of the clamping pressure out over the main part of the bridge.

You might be able to make a Fox style bridge clamp (bing it!) or google it:< and then you can use your bolts to clamp down the bridge.

Jim you are going to get me into trouble now that you showed me how to do that.
Here is a picture of what I am talking about.

Re: 1st scratch build (Walnut OM)
This is it. Put strings on a couple days ago. Has an awesome sound, bright, loud. I’m quite impressed.
The neck doesn’t have a finish on it yet, but I just had to find out how the guitar sounds. The neck wood is a light but sturdy greenish yellow wood. The only description I was able to find of that color of wood is that it may be Limba.
I was going to use inserts to attach the neck, but I found some leg bolts. Same principle as inserts, but better I think. Scale length is 25.56 inches.
Thanks to all who helped me on here, answering questions and giving advice. Wouldn’t have been able to do it without you.
Where do you guys post sound clips?

The guitar looks great; congratulations! You will need to give us more pictures after you get the neck finsihed.

That is a lovely shape. Is that from a plan, or did you make your own shape?
I like it.

I used those downloadable Grellier OM plans. However, the guitar ended up around 14.75 inches wide, vs the 14.9 specified on the plans.
Not sure what happened. The sides were thicknesses to .105 inch and so were not very flexible.
