I noticed some resin on the east indian rosewood sides that I just started working with. They came pre-bent. I assume I need to clean up the resin.

• What is the preferred method to clean up resin deposits?
• At what point in the build should I do this?

Use alcohol. Alcohol is the only solvent that will dissolve resin. It never hurts to clean the area on rosewood, that will be glued, with alcohol first, so you get a good gluing surface. But to be honest, I've never had to do this with EIR or Brazilian. Cocobolo is notorious for resin, and will require alcohol cleaning prior to gluing.

But, the answer to your question is alcohol. Just do it when you start sanding to prep for finishing. If it's in a place that you'll be gluing, then clean with alcohol prior to gluing. Usually sandpaper will knock it down. I've never had it interfere with shellac or nitro when finishing.
