Clear pickguard adhesive showing

I bought clear pickguards to use on my two first builds, because I did not want to cover the rosewood rings in the rosettes. I got one down, realized I had not polished the edges, so should probably replace it anyway. But I'm also unhappy with the visibility of the adhesive underneath, sort of looks like tiny waves or ripples, maybe from the way the stuff is applied. No bubbles to speak of. Before I slap another one on, is there a way to make the adhesive spread itself more uniformly? Or can anyone recommend a self-adhesive brand, or another approach?

John recommended 3M double sided adhesive. It's clear, but I'm not positive of how it would look under a clear pickguard. It seems to me that the self adhesive cling vinyl, used on phones and tablets, would work for you.

This is where I got the 3M adhesive: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 2774797872

you have to be very careful
to get the air out as you lay the clear guards down
