How about hickory for back/sides?

Post by MaineGeezer »

Any thoughts on using hickory for back/sides?

Drawbacks:
Fairly heavy (though probably no worse than rosewood)
Coarse grain, not likely to be "beautiul"
Some tendency to splinter

Advantages:
Strong
Hard
???
