Is it okay to use a framing square or a level as a straight edge when setting the neck? Thank you, Pete

If it is straight, yes. Lay it on some paper, use it to draw a line, flip it top to bottom can you still draw the same line from the same side of the tool? Some long rulers have slight curves, the level and carpenter square are probably straight.
