I decided to try and make a wooden rosette, so I bought a Spanish Cedar rosette square from RC Tonewoods. I used a dremel to cut out the old rosette and filled the low spots with sawdust and LMI white glue. After that, I glued in the rosette with some black purfling and scraped, scraped and scraped. Still have a little more to do I think. This was really good practice for getting the feel of using a scraper. Although parts of the top definitely suffered while I learned. I don't know how it will look when it's all done but I'm accepting it as it is and looking forward to working on to the braces.
