What mold for the Antes 'Small Concert' AGP-01?

Post by darren »

What shape is this? Size 2? O? It definitely is not a 'parlor'...

Need a mold but can't figure out what the corresponding shape is (other than lmi's mold, obviously).

I think that is a Martin size 5. Allied Lutherie has a plan for an 0 sized martin parlor plan by Rick Micheletti. I got a mold from John Hall that worked well for the Martin 0 plan.

The Antes pl30 plans are for a 3/4 size or size 5 guitar. I'm thinking this is close to a Size 2, or basically in between a size 2 and an 'O' size.

in the photo above, a size 5 bracing template is place on the Antes 'Small Concert' plans, lined up at the soundhole center and body centerline...it is much much smaller.

Well I made my OM mold, but I don't currently have a router available so it would be pretty difficult right now. Plus I'd like to spend my free time building guitars, not molds - you've got a good point though. An 8th of an inch here and there off the Antes plan is no big deal. The size 2 is a pretty sweet little guitar anyway. (Terence Kennedy's pictured)

Out of respect for Mr. Antes I don't want to show the complete plan but the mold is just slightly longer and the waist and LB curves are a little different. A little more booty in the size 2. :)

I'm happy with this though, and itching to bend some sides.

I have this mold available made to the print. Contact me and we can hook you up. Also Antes Plans are notoriously over braced. We can help you as you put this together.

Yeah, I'll be doing 1/4" bracing. Thanks for the offer. I still intend to get that Taylor GA mold from you but this little guy came next in line.
