Taking Better Guitar Photos

Post by Jim_H »

John Kitchen gave a presentation as the ASIA symposium on the subject of taking better pictures of our guitars.

I wasn't fortunate enough to see his presentation, but he was kind enough to post the documents in a thread over at the AGF.

It is pretty much the same process as photographing people portraits. Some good info there, it's good to keep repeating the basic stuff.

I think the challenges with guitars (over people) is the reflection of the glossy surface, and trying to capture the depth of the wood under the finish.

After reading his presentation, I realized that I regularly make just about every mistake he talks about (angle, lighting, etc...)

I purchased a "Better Photos" E-publication ( a few bucks) from Bill Cory a few years back, I'm sure he still sells it -- great and simple tips -- I'd guess you could get in touch with Bill by clicking his ad to the left --
