Bow River becomes Cascadia

Post by Stray Feathers »

Canadian members on the forum may have seen that Bow River Wood to Works has been sold to a long-time employee, and has become Cascadia Woodwork and Lutherie Supply. The new owner promises expanded inventory and services. It looks like the location in Chilliwack (near Vancouver) may close, and Cascadia will operate from the location in Courtenay on Vancouver Island. That's helpful for Vancouver Island luthiers. This follows the announcement by another former employee that he has opened Edco Fine Woods, operating from Quesnel in central BC. Access to more inventory without having to pay international shipping is a plus. The new Cascadia web site is:

https://www.cascadiacanada.com/pages/lutherie-home but the old Bow River URL still takes you there too.

It's probably fair to say this will be a lower-volume operation than some in the US, but still a boost.

Bow River is where I got my archtop wood from 5 years ago. I am building it now and am impressed with the quality. Too bad they are gone but nice that the mantel is being carried on. Hopefully they will have a good selection of materials.
