I got the 3 qt Instant Pot. I removed the steam valve cover and connected a 5/16" ID car hose to the valve. I have a stewmac needle, which is on the other end.
I just pressed "pressure cook" > I togged the button so that the pressure was on "HIGH and MORE", then waited for the pot to start. You can adjust the "cooking" time by using the +/- buttons.
It quickly came to a boil, and the pop-up valve closed. A little water squirted out, then steam..
Wow! Love the amount of steam that came out!
So, it works and is one of the many alternatives to make steam.
