I have a knockoff of the Workmate sitting up on a top shelf getting dusty. Thanks for prodding my memory!

I got one of these....https://www.garrettwade.com/ultimate-ve ... l....which adds another axis to the parrot vise. I made wood/leather jaw protectors with beveled backs (and inset magnet) so tapered necks etc can be gripped. It will open to 5".

In 2003 I took a Windsor Chair class where each large square table had one of these at each corner. Perfect for making many parts and doing many operations on chairs. I have been actively looking for one since - and at the time they were $89 if I recall - but have never seen one used for sale. Being a scrooge, I have worked around not having one, but have thought about it often enough that it makes no sense that I haven't bought one.
