Two things

Post by ruby@magpage.com »

First - I found this on my bench - does anyone recognize it? The shaft has a flat spot its whole length

Second - after 5 fretboards, I just notices a line scored down the length of the blade of my StewMac fret saw. It is just a little deeper than the fret barbs and works great at letting you know you are deep enough. Is this intentional? Do others have this on their saws?

Just replied over on OLF.....It looks like the threaded center for a "self feed" bit which could be turned around when the threads get too worn to pull the bit into the board. I used to use them for electrical and plumbing chases in log homes.

Thanks Carl - dead right. My daughter was cleaning her shop and gave me a giant Milwaukee Forstner type bit she used in an art project. I looked it over on the bench, then put it away - at least I put PART of it away

Anybody on the scribed line on the saw plate??
