Inlay cutter

Bought an interesting tool at a local auction today - turns out it is even better than I suspected.
It is a German (Ulmia) veneer and inlay cutter. It has cutters and spacers at one end to incise a channel or cut matching inlay from veneer, and at the other end is a typical gauge head on a bar.

I am thinking there has to be a good job for this thing on a guitar - cutting binding and purfling and other small parts?
If you search the innerweb for "Ulmia veneer cutter" there are a whole raft of various tools for cutting strips that might be helpful. They went out of business 20 years ago, so I have no affiliation, yada, yada, yada
