I have seen a couple of those and I think they were made by Sargent. Their block planes definitely have a Sargent blade in them, and the bench planes have the depth adjusting (brass) nut that is unique to Sargent. It also has their folded lateral lever. It is probably pre-1909 because the hole at the end of the slot in the blade is at the top. Moving it to the bottom was a Stanley patent of 1892, so adding the 17 year life of a patent, you get 1909, but sometimes features lasted a few years longer than the 17.

Lovely tote - bet it wraps over the top of your hand and feels great.

Hey Ed, yeah I thought also that the plane was probably made by Sargent. I'm learning these things with time.
I was pretty stoked. Got them for $5 each. The wood on the #3 is really good shape too.
