Well here is my latest bench plane acquisition. I just couldn't resist, and the price was right.
It is a Stanley #6 Type 6, made between 1888 and 1892. All original. The nob has a repairable/fillable crack. The tote has a repair at the bottom and the top is broken off.
It has been cleaned up, but the patina remains. No rust present. The iron is original with about an inch of use left. Pretty cool. So now I have three #6 size planes. Someone stop me!!!! Nah. I love it.

Ha! I just bought a #6 a couple of weeks ago at the local mega flea market. The curved section at the top of the tote is broken off, otherwise it's in pretty good shape and works well.
I don't think I'd need three of them though. :-)

Don't believe everything you know.
