Black and Decker Workmate 79-020

Post by Diane Kauffmds »

I don't have a place to install a permanent vise, but there are times where I need to clamp a guitar body. I was looking at portable Black and Decker Workmates, which were portable work tables, which are also vises, when I ran across this workmate, which is a tabletop model.

It's used, so I didn't pay much. I'm going to replace the metal strip and install rubber on the vice edges, but it works smoothly and clamps a guitar quite nicely. It's holding this guitar, which I'll be replacing the top, very securely, even though I've not clamped the table with the included clamps, to the table top. It has the added advantage of being very portable:

That tilt function should be very handy!
