Tool Suggestions For Finishing Up

Post by Darryl Young »

About to make what I hope is my last order to StewMac before finishing this build.

Should I buy the 3 deg reamer for the bridge pins? I bought my pins from John Hall. Do you recomend StewMacs reamers or have another suggestion?

I like to use Daddario Phosphor Bronze Strings. Here are the string diameters for that set and what I'm thinking would be the best matching file size from StewMac. Sound correct? I've read that it's better to be slightly large than slightly small.......but it's only something I read.

String File
0.013 .013 (Other options are .010 & .016)
0.017 .020 (Other options are .016 & .020)
0.026 .028 (Other options are .024 & .028)
0.035 .035 (Other options are .032 & .042)
0.045 .046 (Other options are .042 & .046)
0.056 .056 (Other options are .050 & .065)

Finally, do I need a reamer for the guitar strap peg? Can I use the one for the bridge pins or is it too small?

This Martin reamer can be used on the bridge pins and on the end pin hole. Can the StewMac reamers be used on both?
