Hello All.
Does anyone know where I can get, and under what name and or brand, the "fish glue" that John at Blues Creek Guitars sells? I bought a little bottle from John to assembly my second kit and it is now my primary glue. I am out of it and John is away at a show this weekend so I am stuck. Can you help me out? Thanks so much!

Sincerely,
Rich

Probably my fault in some way, but I built #3 last year and glued on the bridge with fish glue as I had just learned of it. Seemed OK, so on #4 I used fish glue for the whole build - - until - - the bridge came off of the #3 after about 5 months. No indication that it was starved for glue or a bad joint.

So on #4 I used TItebond on the bridge and will go back to it as my glue.

you can call Brenda she is still there.
I have been using fish glue a while and didn't have any failure. I do apply glue to the top and the bridge and clamp over night.

use what you feel comfortable with.

I have a bridge that was glued with fish glue that is still holding perfect after 3 or 4 years.

What's the shelf life on fish glue and how much would one need to build a 000 Martin kit from John?

Thanks,
Ed

I'm finishing up my 4th build using primarily fish glue. The bridge on my last guitar was misplaced so I had to remove it, reposition and reglue. The bridge was glued on with fish glue and was on the guitar for about a month. It took me over an hour to get that bridge off the guitar and it was a bear to get off. After that experience I have total confidence in building with the fish glue. That stuff is solid as a rock.

You can buy it directly from Norland but they have a minimum. You're better off getting the smaller bottles from John.
