new dust collector

Post by tippie53 »

My Grizzly G0440 was replaced by an Oneida system. I have to say that the Oneida system is a big improvement. For those looking into cyclone units I will tell you that the biggest weak point of the Grizzly was plastic bags and the filter. You use a collection dust bag on the filter. This would often leak or burst spewing fine dust all over the shop. The filter on the Grizzly also used an internal brush. This actually pushed the finest particles into the filter medium , blocking it and within a year you would be replacing the filter at a cost of over $350.
The Oneida cyclone doesn't have this . I will have to blow compressed air into the filter to knock the fines out. The impeller a much larger on the Oneida. I went from a 2 HP to 3HP on the Oneida. Assembly was not to difficult . Also the motor on the Oneida is a Lesson the Grizzly was their brand and I had to replace the capacitors a few times. Also the the Oneida is made in the USA.
I also like that the unit is taking up less space . First impressions are high.
