Hi guys.
I got a StewMac gift card for Xmas and it is burning a hole in my pocket!!
I was looking at the StewMac diamond crowning files. A bit expensive but I was wondering if anyone had any expereince with them.

Re: StewMac diamond fret files
An owner of one of the local shops that sends me some work uses them and swears by them. I want to get a set myself but the little old PA dutchman inside me wont let me by new ones until I wear out the ones I have now.....

I bought a cheapie version off of ebay. But it does more damage than it does good.
I have a standard StewMac crowning file. But thought the upgade might be worth it.

I have that tool and love it. It cuts clean, and its shape makes it very easy and safe to use.

Re: StewMac diamond fret files
There's no comparison from the alternative fret files on stewmac to the Diamond file. It's night and day and worth every cent of that 100 bucks. I've heard tales that they warrant the Diamond file, and back it with a free exchange when it goes dull. Not sure what kind of truth goes behind that. I have 2 of the other stewmac files, and they are garbage. In every repair shop I've worked in, I've only used the stewmac diamond file, and I can't stand to do fretwork with out.

Update on the diamond file.
I bought the Stew Mac file in the 300 grit. I wish I bought this when I first started!!
Incredibly fast at crowning and shaping.
Cuts the work time easily in half on fret jobs.
Pays for itself!
