If you have a friend who does model machining, and has a mini mill, you can make a router guide very much like the Wells/Karol guide. I made my copy out of black Delrin scrap, and some threaded rod a friend gave me a few years ago. The photos show close ups of the details. If you have the price of the Wells/Karol to spend, though. it's a great jig and very adaptable.I would recommend rounding all edges of the plastic, though, if it doesn't come that way. I made some very shallow scratches in the top when i used my copy. A little felt glued on the contact surface fixes that problem, though. Mine is fitted onto a manufacturer-refurbished Bosch Colt variable speed ($79 on Amazon).
