Non-Kenmore Humidifier

Post by Victory Pete »

I have been looking to replace my Kenmore humidifier with something better. I have to constantly fill the bottles and the filters gets clogged in a couple months.

Thanks for any help

Pete, I consider you fortunate.
Water here is so hard I get about 2 weeks on a set of wicks and get an annual visit from the kidney stones.

My humidifiers are Sunbeams using HFW100 wicks which are cheap on eBay.
I just keep telling myself that Spring is right around the corner even though we got down to 5 deg last night.
John, I bet it was even colder in your neck of the woods.

I have been using a Vornado ultra sonic for the past two years. Works great, low maintenance and a 5 yr warranty. Here is a link to the owners manual.

Is this for your shop or home? Are you wanting a humidifier that automatically refills ( no filling jugs)?

I bought one for my home and it helps but I'm stuck with refilling jugs. Also, when the fan is on high speed it makes a lot of noise so its seldom set note than half speed and at that speed it is undersized for my home.

I bought an Essick Evaporative Whole House humidifier from Home Depot. It has one of the wicking filters, and holds about 6-7 gallons at a time. Runs about $120, but is well worth it. Here is a link:

I like this much better than the ultrasonic, as the fine white powder residue bothers the hell out of me.

I get no white dust from my ultra sonic. There is a cartridge that removes minerals and it gets replaced once a month.

Hmmm...I had 2 of them and they both kept leaving that dust. Wonder if it has something to do with my water softener?
