I'm building a go bar deck and was thinking about what I could NOT use it for, like gluing the blocks to the rim. But it occurred to me that it might be possible to use the bars on the blocks inside the mold. I figure I could get four or five bars running from tail to end block. I have a batten that I used between the blocks on my first build that kept the geometry when clamping the blocks to the rim. Using go bars is kind of the same principle, I think. I like the go bar idea because I had trouble fitting clamps around the toggle on the mold.
Would it work? Am I missing something?

Nope
You should have about 8 to 10lbs per square in clamping force. A tail block is a tad over 3 inches wide and 4 in high. You also have the wood absorbing water that may cause some funny things. Trust me use a clamp.

Re: Go bars for clamping neck and tail blocks
Glad I asked. I saw those weird double end clamps somewhere before. How many lbs/sq.in. from a go bar?
Is there a magic ratio between the height of the deck and the length of the go bars? I'll be trying first with hardwood dowels. I thought I'd make the deck 24 inches between between top and bottom and the bars about 25 inches long.
