Bridge pin hole reamers

Post by hummingbird »

They're expensive. LMI has 3 deg and 5 deg. Which one is best / more common. I don't want to have to buy both.

Check out Grizzly.com for a reasonably priced 3 deg. reamer.

I've already got a violin-peg reamer. It has a 1/30 taper, which my toy drawing program renders as 1.91 degrees (that's the angle between the cutting edge of the reamer and the long central axis of the reamer itself, I presume). But that got me to wondering how the degrees in a reamer are calculated ... is that the angle the face is from the central axis of the reamer, or the angle formed by the faces of the cone (i.e the cutters)?
