A new arrival.........
There was a delivery at my house on Jan. 4th. We are way too old be having babies, this delivery came in a crate.
I ordered it on Christmas day, and now it sits in my shop ready to use. I had it delivered to my work place, and 3 of use loaded it into the back of my Honda CRV. A couple more friends helped me unload it at my house. A piece of cake! Almost 400 lbs.
A Steel City 14" Deluxe Granite bandsaw. I got it put together last night. It is set up, but not fine tuned. It does cut! Yeah!
It runs smoothly and is not too noisey. The foot print is small which is good for my shop. I had to reorganize benches and eliminate one storage shelf to make room for this baby.
I'm happy, and I think momma is happy. I hope to do some resawing some day, but for now it will see duty replacing my little 10" 3 wheel Craftsman table top bandsaw I've been using for the last almost 20 years.

Kevin, use in good health.
Mark Duginske's bandsaw videos and books are a great resource for BS owners.

Congrats! I have a Steel City bandsaw and have been quite happy with it. It was great to finally do my own re-sawing. Once you have it tuned up you'll be in business.
I purchased an after-market fence from Kreg, and found it to be a nice improvement to the stock unit.

Re: A new arrival.........
I'm liking it!
I've only cut a little bit to sample it so far. I did cut a Cocobolo block into 1/8" slices to glue up for a rosette, and that was okay. It has a little 1/4" blade on it. I'm looking at getting some Highland Woodworking Wood slicer blades to try on it. Then I'll be looking for some wood to resaw; some thing for practice first, and then something that might one day be a geetar!
Now for those of you who are watching, I'll give you a line on something special.
On Jan 14, Saturday, Woodcraft is putting the Rikon 14 deluxe bandsaw on for $807 just for that day, and shipping is $79, no tax.
I didn't wait for this sale because the Steel City was so cheap, but the Rikon is what John Parchem has and it is highly rated. The regular price is $950. There you go, if you are in the market, take advantage!

And as a bonus, you can make a few guitar molds out of the plywood that the bandsaw was packed in! :)
ps, whats with all the oranges? Is that what they use instead of styrofoam peanuts now?
