Actually, we did that here on this site with the Claptons Guitar book. I think there was a similar effort on the OLF too.

I would be like to be included in the mailing list for those plans.
Thanks for offering to share Kyle.

The best "Plan" for a bender, is to make a "Plan" to call John Hall at Blues Creek and order one from him. =)

I made my 2nd bender off this plan and I found many errors in the plan that made using standard parts difficult .

thanks for the input from all. I'm sure over time I may make adjustments to the bender I make. Difficulties are sure to arise but bending one or two seta a year I can't justify putting out alot of money yet. Maybe in a couple of years I'll change my mind but for right now if I can build something that work fairly well and get by with just buying the blanket from John I'll be happy. I'd be even happier if my wife had a change of heart about my guitar building budget but......

Is the Plan when we receive the plans to go have a copy made of them, and then mail them along (I would hope) rather than hold them until we get our bender made?
Jim, I agree with you that that is the "best" plan, however, somewhere along the line my wife did not "plan" for me to spend that kind of money for one. :>) Thus, I will attempt to make my own, I tink!

There is another option for plans.

I have not seen these, so don't take this as an endorsement (I bought one from John :p )

He has other fixture plans there as well.

Since most of the bending is done within around 2" of each end of a side, can someone tell me if 25" metal slats would be long enough to work when bending sides? Seems they would support that part of the wood that is being bent.
I ask as I see that much of the shim stock available (spring steel) comes in 25" lengths, and SS stock in either 50" or 60" rolls (which would yield 30" pieces - better yet I'm sure).
What do you guys know or think about this?
Thanks.
