Go Bar Deck for Free!!

Well I actually built a gobar deck via instructions on MacDonald. I haven't used it yet, I just started my build having made a mold. I can see why people buy molds, but it was an experience. I plan on putting the gobar deck on a TV monitor swivel like I saw in a YouTube video (I think). Anyway, I will be able to pull it out and swivel it 360 degrees to work on all sides of the guitar.By the way, what is the best way to get specific help with my build? Should I start a new thread?

Kent, you might want to start a thread for each question. Although, I did a build thread and asked questions during that single thread. Seemed like both were equally effective in getting answers. The guys here are very nice about answering and have good advice to share.Bob

I've probably mentioned this in several threads now, but for my go bar deck I went to the ceiling. it is 36" from my bench top. 8' long SPF 2"x2"s are very cheap. rip them into "bars" 1/4" by 3/4". this set up cost abt $3...Image

I figured out a way to do this without a Go-Bar deck. I just use paint stirrers and clamp one on each side between the braces. When I need glue a new one I clamp it at each end then I wedge 3 paint sticks under the one I clamped on and then either clamp the other end or if necessary wedge it under another paint stick clamped on each side. It isn't elegant but it's effective and didn't cost me a dime. I suspect I get more pressure than I would with a go bar deck as well.

Yo Hack - how's about posting a pic of that set-up? I have trouble visualizing things and your method sounds interesting.
Thanks
