I intended to use a Woodpeck 24" straightedge/ruler for guitar making but as well made and as straight as this tool appears, it is too heavy and bulky. The StewMac 24" sells for $60. I'm not looking to spend all that. LeeValley 24" is $47. but weighs 2 lbs. I'm considering a standard 24" aluminum rule and getting it as straight as possible with sandpaper on my cast iron jointer bed.
Any good, lighter weight alternatives? What do you folks use? Thanks.

Straightedge?

Your choice. Accuracy isn't cheap or easy but it's awfully nice.
Dollarwise, if I send back the Woodpecks I'll have paid shipping to receive them, shipping to return them,
plus shipping for whatever alternate I decide to buy. I'll keep the Woodpecks.
Ken, thanks for the link.

Lee valley 24" aluminum straight edge within .003 over total lenght for about 28 bucks. Stay away from stuff that does not mention accuracy.
