Hey all, I have a quick question that hopefully you all can answer for me. In my move across the pond, I seem to have left my router bit but I remembered to bring my bearings in my tool box. Can I just get a normal craftsman router bit to use with the bearings or do I need to order a special one from one of the luthier's warehouses?

Thanks John! I guess I could always ask the employees at the store if I can open up the package and see if it will fit. I did see that stew-mac also sells just the bit without the bearing so I might just order another bit.

The Stewmac bit is a strange size, not available from any other source (that's just hearsay, though). I don't know the exact dimensions, but even if the threads fit so that you can use your bearings you won't be cutting the same size notches in your guitar. That may not matter to you.

I know the stewmac bearings and the LMI bearings are not compatable.

UGH! That is not what I needed to hear. I am going to double and triple check my tools to make sure it is not hidden somewhere else. I really dont want to go and have to buy a completely new set.

Would buying a replacement bit from StewMac without the bearings be an option?

Good news! Stewmac does sell just the bit. It still is bugging me that I can not find my original bit when I know I have seen it somewhere since I moved.
