I tried to use something other than threaded rod for the corner posts on my go-bar deck but couldn't think of anything that was as cheap and adjustable. I would recommend building the deck so you can adjust the height. If your go-bars are 24" long, you probably want at least 30" of height. I used 3ft long bars I think (might be 4ft). You need it if you are clamping on top of the body as it could be 4 or 5 inches thick. If you are building a go-bar deck anyhow, you might as well use it for gluing the top/back to the rim as well. I like to glue the top and back to the rim while the rim is still in the mold and sitting in the appropriate radius dish.
