How's that frosty bub? LOL. I currently use digital calipers and measure in two spots per edge, all edges. I am within a thou or two each, which is surprisig considering the crudity of my sander. I'll upgrade my thickness measuring tools when I have the budget to upgrade my thickness sander. That'll probably happen at the same time I have the budget to start my boat....meaning a few years from now. Glad that one's working for you....I'll add it to the list.

So, my big brother was playing guitar and I figured I'd try it too.

I have been looking for something like this for a while but I didn't want to spend a lot of money. If any European based guys are interested they can be found here;

It is an archeological supply company. I have just ordered for £26 +postage.

NOW you guys are talking! And you are all welcome.
Ken, I was also just using standard calipers along the edges, which was probably close enough, but I did wonder if my plates were consistent, and now I know.
I wish we had a Woodcraft store in my area, they have lots of cool stuff.

Well, my caliper arrived this morning and I am very pleased with. I thickness my backs, tops and sides with hand tools so these are great. Thanks for the heads up Kevin.

Great tip Mike,

I'll consider to get me one of those.
Till now I use this, with the use of a micrometer from work:
