Re: speaking of bending
Seems like it could work, but it might take a while to get hot. Just don't boil the light bulbs!

Here's a pic of a guy using a steam box - is this viable?

Propane torch with about 1/2" flame heats a bending pipe nicely -- if you hit the bulb with your water spray mist (which you must use) the bulb will burst violently!!
The boiling tray is simply a 14"x38" piece of galvinized metal tin is best. Fold all four sides at 4" pinch the corners diagonally and fold that to one side or the other. Its easier to snip the corners on the diaginal but that will require you to solder the seams. Think of this as wrapping a gift. You can make it fancy smancy if you add 2" in both direction and fold the extra inch over to eliminate the sharp edge it will also make the tray more rigid. A camping stove is a nice way to boil the water, also you need a couple of "U" shaped straps the width of the tray to hold the sides in the water otherwise they will float to the top and not get evenly heated -- space the sides with a piece of scrap so the water circulates between the side.

Thanks for the input Ken. I will give one or the other a try.
