Spotted a scroll saw - 16" - at HF for $79.00.

Is there a chance that it is a good one for what we do?

Or can you give me a recommendation?

I considered one because I found a deal on a used one. I was going to use it for cutting out tops and backs. I opted for a coping saw because I had one on hand. Cheap, easy and pretty fast.

There have been times I thought it would be useful to have one, especially if I were dong wood inlay, but I always made do with what I had instead.

Hey , stop talkin about my sister . HF tools are hit and miss on quality. If you have the room a small band saw may be more useful. I had a few scroll saws and found them of little use . Still if you are limited on space you may need to use on. I would look at a better piece. You can find good used ones for the same $$$.
just my 2 cents

I bought the Scroll Saw from HF made by Continental. I used it on my last guitar for trimming the finger board. It's not easy since there is no fence to help guide your work. I agree if you have enough room, a Band Saw is much better. It is still a good tool.

I've got plenty of room, and I have a band saw - though I need a better one - so my money should probably go for the better band saw.
Thanks for input.
