This is my thought as a non-builder. The Redwood and quilted maple are pretty certain at this point but I'm wondering what to do for the neck. I have not spent a lot of money on wood for this first project. I bought a chunk of Alaska Cedar for $11. I was also thinking to match a maple fretboard to this. If I really wanted to go crazy I could put some Koa position markers on it.

Any thoughts? Thank you. :-)

I have worked with Yellow Cedar in boatbuilding and found it be very stable and stiff, and a true joy to work. It responds to tools with willing abandon!! I think it would look fabulous with a reddish rosewood fingerboard - like Honduras Rosewood. Ebony would also be beautiful.
