1st uke, all local woods

I made this tenor ukulele as an experiment and to get some experience carving a neck from scratch. All the woods are salvaged wood from yard trees or blow downs near my house in upstate NY.
Back, sides, fingerboard and bridge: from a giant Osage orange yard tree taken down 1.5 miles from my house.
Top and braces: Adirondack red spruce from a blowdown near raquette lake about 70 miles north
Neck, end wedge and bindings: from a sugar maple from my own front yard.
Fretboard markers and heal cap from a black walnut also from my neighborhood.

Boy, you're just knocking instruments out right and left Chuck. I really like the use and salvage of local woods. Really nice looking uke.

I have used local woods too, though I bought them from tonewoods suppliers. You REALLY used local woods! Great job.

Very nice uke! I'm looking forward to seeing your next effort. You've inspired me to do another uke this time with all local wood. I used sugarbush firewood for the bridge and backyard plum for pegs on my last uke.
