For those that like the "D" size and style guitar I suggest going to the Martin dealer in your area and listening to and playing a D28 and a D35 -- many believe that the D35 gets it distinctive (many say bassy personality) from the three piece back configuration - not! Truth is the D35 has 1/4" wide bracing as opposed to the D28's (D18) 5/16" bracing This comparison will give a hint of what you might expect. Martin J's and M's (0000) are also available with both 1/4" and 5/16" bracing scalloped and non-scalloped.
