Just went to look again and saw you giving a thumbs up. It looks pretty smooth!

Tony,
it's easy to apply, it's the waiting and sanding that's the hard part. and as John says, 'its not what you put on, its what you leave on'. As you brush on it looks like crap but it levels itself pretty nicely.

This is only my second time with the rockhard, and I have a few ideas to improve the process over the last guitar. You guys will hear if they work out or not. :)

I was very impressed by how the mahogany neck took to the varnish, though. The same coat really dries differently over the neck, headplate, and body.

The guitar does look shiny. How many coats of rockhard will you put on the guitar. It really seems to level nicly.

John, I'll put on 5 coats and then level and do 2 or 3 more, depending on how the leveling went. Then wait 3 weeks and go from 600 up through the micromesh grits, and then plastic polish.

Darren,
That guitar is looking grand (my wife told me it sounds stupid for an old man to say SaWEEEEEEEEEEEEt, so I'm trying out a new word) :>)

I was wondering if this Rock hard might be a bit more brittle than the stringed instrument lacquer. Do you have any idea?

Kevin

Kevin your only as old as you feel... as for the rockhard being brittle, I can't say either way.

not much has changed here... waiting for finish to cure so I can micromesh and buff, making nut/saddle, splitting brace stock for the next one.

Looks good! When are you able to buff it out?
