My second build will be a J45 shape, but would like some type of cutaway, as I would use it as a "lead" guitar. To my eyes, cutaways dont really look right on a Dread body, but a scooped, or semi cutaway, could look great.
I can figure the construction of the main scooped part, but not how to fit the binding and purfling around it. Anyone know of any youtube, books or DVD's? Thanks.

Re: Scooped cutaway construction
I am in the planning stage for my next dred. I want to put in an arm bevel and found this video from Robbie O'Brien https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CK_EVunKZQg. I also was thinking of a cutaway but wa thinking a scoop might look better also. I think the scoop could be done the same way. The video glosses over some of the finer points but after thinking about it for a while and reviewing it a few times, I think I can do both the arm bevel and scoop the same way.
