African mahogany for back braces

Post by Kevin Sjostrand »

Do you guys see any negative to using African (or Khaya) mahogany for back braces on a classical guitar?
I was going to us Honduran hog but forgot to order the stock. I have a nice straight grained piece of the african and thought I'd make the back reinforcement strip from the same, so they will match.
What do you all think?

I know sometimes classical guys may use it.
If you do let us know how it worked for you.

spruce is used as it is lighter and stronger.
