Very cool, Kevin! I have used claro walnut for two guitars, the last is still in progress. The wood is a joy to work with. My brother found a board on the internet that we are using for his. A really gorgeous piece of wood that I resawed and am turning into a guitar!

No new paid commissions for me, though I have a lot of folks that would love for me to build them a guitar!

I've purchased 2 sinker redwood tops from LCT. Wonderful people and nice material.

Dave,
I apologize for being secretive, but it took me a few days to decide. I purchased two redwood tops from Pacific Coast Wood.net. They are very nice tops and the price was great at $40 each. They are not perfectly quartered, but they are close, and very stiff, and have a wonderful ringing tap tone. I am very pleased.
I know he has at least one more, sized for an OM. Check it out.
He also has many many awesome b & s sets of Myrtle.

I'm going to have to try some sinker redwood sometime, I love how it looks. I can't remember who built them, but I have seen some guitars made from old cherry whisky barrels, very cool looking, and supposedly sounded great.

Found it....Fylde Guitars

Good for you, Kevin.

All of my builds have been consignment builds, starting with my first one, when I consigned myself to build it. Just kidding.

I guess my #4 is my first real consignment build. It's the first one that I'm building for someone that wasn't a friend first, and that I'm charging a real price for.

Ken,
I have never drank cherry whiskey before. Do they make that up in the Washington DC area?

Okay guys, so I have the wood now for this build, and I am very pleased. Here are some pics.
Top is redwood, b & s is walnut. The top is very even, very little streaking. The walnut has alot, but fine curl...not wide like you usually see. The colors will be very nice under finish, and it is dark like I was looking for.
The best part, I spent under $150 for it all.

Nice Kev, She's going to look beautiful.

The casks were oak, too. Not Cherry. My bad.
