Mahogany Size Two
fall is here and time to build... This particular size 2 will be Honduran Mahogany with an Adi top, Granadillo fingerboard and headstock, and Madagascan bridge and binding.
Ya'll have seen this but I'm proud of it so I'll show it again.
sides are profiled and ready to bend:
and the back is joined and backstrip glued on.
Hoping I'll get the rosette installed and the sides bent this weekend, stay tuned.

Re: Mahogany Size Two
Very nice work Darren, super clean. I'd like to try the same combo of woods someday

Re: Mahogany Size Two
Thanks Scott. Hog/Adi is a pretty classic combination, which I haven't used yet. So we'll see what all the fuss is about. :)
I love Mad Rose, but these are the last of my pieces, and I'm trying out the Granadillo to see if it is a good replacement for the Mad Rose. So far I like it. It has a high 'ping' factor.

Re: Mahogany Size Two
sides bent... I overdid a spot below the waist and had to correct it so that is the reason for the scorching on the one side. I also bent a cross-grain rosewood piece to go inside a side port if I decide to do one. I don't think I will... but while the iron was hot I thought I'd do it just in case.

Re: Mahogany Size Two
Way to go Darren, off and running on another one. I've got to make one of these small patterns one of these days.

Darren, if you don't mind sharing.....where did you get the purfling you used on the rosette? Did you like it?
